 Microsoft

Microsoft's mission is to help every person and organization in the world become better.

Microsoft is a technology company that was founded by Bill Gates and Paul Allen in 1975(April 4).The name Microsoft comes from the words "microcomputer" and "software". Microsoft is the world's largest software maker, best known for its software products, including Microsoft Windows operating systems, the Microsoft Office suite, and the Internet Explorer web browser.

In 1975, Gates and Allen, boyhood friends from Seattle, converted BASIC, a popular mainframe computer programming language, for use on the Altair, an early personal computer. In the mid-1980s, Microsoft rose to dominate the personal computer operating system market with MS-DOS, followed by Windows.

In 1985, Microsoft released Windows, a graphical extension for MS-DOS, and in 1987, it released its version of OS/2 to original equipment manufacturers (OEMs). By the late 1980s, Microsoft was the world's largest personal-computer software company. The company went public in 1986 and released Windows 3.0 in 1990, which gained a wide following and made Microsoft the dominant player in the operating system market.

In 1995, Microsoft released DirectX, an application program interface (API) for the Windows platform, which made it easier for developers to handle game programming and multimedia in the new Windows OS.The company also expanded its product line into computer networking and the World Wide Web, and by the end of the 1990s, Microsoft was the world's largest software maker by revenue.

Microsoft has faced legal challenges and regulatory scrutiny over the years, including a 1998 antitrust lawsuit by the U.S. Department of Justice, which resulted in a settlement that required Microsoft to make changes to its business practices. The company has also diversified into other areas, such as gaming with the Xbox and the Xbox Live service, and has made several corporate acquisitions, including the acquisition of LinkedIn in 2016 and Activision Blizzard in 2022.

Certainly! Here are some intriguing facts about Microsoft:

1.First Major Deal: Microsoft’s first major deal was with IBM in 1980 for their new computer’s operating system. The deal resulted in PC DOS and was worth a whopping $50,000.

2.Youngest Billionaire: In 1987, Bill Gates officially became the youngest billionaire at the age of 31, just two years after the release of Microsoft Windows.

3.First Smartwatch: Microsoft ventured into the smartwatch world in 1994 with the Datalink 150, co-produced with Timex. It required a PC running Windows 3.1 and was water-resistant to 100 meters.

4.Xbox Origins: The X in Xbox comes from Windows’ DirectX software, which the operating system uses for processing graphics.
5.Wingdings Font Quirk: When you type Q33 in Microsoft’s Wingdings font, it reveals a sinister and uncouth symbol. Coincidence or not, it’s intriguing!

These facts showcase Microsoft’s journey from its early days to its current status as a global technology giant.
